Why French is worth the effort
Under Express Entry, French ability is scored through the Canadian Language Benchmarks (NCLC in French). Reaching NCLC 7 across all four abilities unlocks additional points, and Canada has run category-based draws for French-language proficiency with noticeably lower score cut-offs than general draws.

It tells you what to do today
A pile of practice tests is not a plan. You enter your exam date, and the app works out where you actually stand in each of the four skills, then gives you two or three specific things to do — today, with a time estimate on each.
It measures you honestly
Your last three sessions in each skill are averaged against the NCLC 7 line. No single lucky test flatters you, and a skill you have only tried once is marked needs more data rather than counted as a pass.

If speaking is at 40% and everything else is fine, speaking is what it puts in front of you — by name, with the number quoted back to you.
It changes as the exam gets closer
More than six weeks out you build volume. Six to two weeks, you attack weaknesses under timing. The last fortnight is full mock simulations. The final three days are review and sleep — the app will actively stop prescribing new material.
It tells you when not to book
A plain verdict at the top: Not ready to book, Close, not there, or Tracking at NCLC 7. Booking a test you are not ready for is an expensive mistake.

Listening

Writing
Every task type: TEF Section A and B, TCF Tâches 1 to 3. Live word count against the official ranges, a marking checklist built from the published criteria, and a full model answer for each task.
Speaking
Record yourself against the published preparation and response timers, listen back, and mark yourself on the same five criteria an examiner uses. Model responses show the structure that scores.

Is this the official TCF or TEF exam?
No. This is independent preparation material modelled on the published formats. It is not affiliated with France Éducation international, the CCI Paris Île-de-France, or IRCC. You still book your real test through an approved test centre.
Which exam should I take, TCF or TEF?
Both are accepted for Express Entry. TEF Canada listening is 40 questions in 40 minutes with four sections; TCF Canada is 39 independent questions in 35 minutes that get harder as you go. Try both in the app and see which format suits how you listen.
Do I need a microphone?
Only for the speaking module, and only if you want to record and listen back — which is the whole point. Any phone or laptop microphone is fine. Recordings stay on your device and are never uploaded.
Will this guarantee me NCLC 7?
No, and be wary of anyone who promises that. What it gives you is the real format, honest timing, model answers to compare against, and a record of where you are weakest. The work is still yours to do.
Do I pay straight away?
